Hip Hop Don't Stop!

We put our puppetry skills to the test to create 2 replica puppets of famous American rappers 21 Savage and Lil Baby.

Look who just popped in…

Recognise these couple of chart-toppers? Yep, these are puppet versions of 21 Savage and Lil Baby- and yep, we made them!

These wonderful, unique puppets were created for a US-based rapper fan, to keep at home and enjoy.

This was a challenging but very rewarding project! And we were more than chuffed with the end results.

Master of Puppets!

This project kicked off with some sketch magic. Talented caricaturist Adrian Teal drew up some sketches that captured their vibe and set the tone for our sculpting team. From there, we sculpted the base forms in clay and cast them in fibreglass. The casts were then filled with foam latex, giving us that gloriously realistic skin texture.

We built the torsos and arms using reticulated foam, adding clever little cut-outs behind the arms so that the performer could puppeteer with precision.

As for the hands? We life-cast our very own Tim’s mitts, added a touch of sculpting flair, and voilà: rapper-ready hand magic!

Then it was all about the fine-tuning. We added realistic glass eyes, fake eyelashes, zote foam teeth, and synthetic braids for the hair, then our artists painstakingly painted on their iconic tattoos with a very steady hand!
