Somerset House: Hello Kitty Sculpture
Hattie Stewart

The CUTE exhibition at Somerset House explores the irresistible force of cuteness in contemporary culture. We had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with artist, Hattie Stewart, self-proclaimed “professional doodler” and inventor of the “doodle bomb”, creating a giant Hello Kitty sculpture holding one of her trademark glossy smilie hearts to commemorate Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary.
The sculpture started off being carved from a polystyrene block and is 2.5 meters high. We then covered her in foil and fiberglassed over to make her robust. Our team then had the meticulous task of sanding and filling, sanding and filling to make her ultra smooth. She was then prepped, painted and lacquered to give her a nice glossy finish.
This is one not to be missed if you have the chance to go and see it!
CUTE is now open, until April 14, 2024.
