Mattel: Thomas the Tank Engine Chocolate Sculpture

Commissioned by Mattel, Plunge created a five-foot-tall, giant chocolate sculpture of Thomas the Tank Engine. On displayat King’s Cross station over theEaster weekend, this tasty bit of food art caused quite a stir. Getting lots of media coverage in BBC Newsround, ITN, The Sun, Telegraph, Evening Standard, The Argus,to name but a few.
The giant chocolate sculpture of Thomas The Tank Engine took 3people 250 hours to create. It was first sculpted out of polystyrene. Then thickly coated in approximately100kg of delicious Belgian chocolate.
Using a mixture ofwhite, milk and dark chocolate create the detail in the sculpture, it was Thomas' face which took the most time to get right. Mainly, due tohow recognisable it is.
